Chaos at Holiday Inn Express as Man Goes Berserk

Kent Police rushed to the Holiday Inn Express in Mount Pleasant, Minster, just after 4pm on 28 January 2022. Officers arrested Lewis Lonergan, 24, following threats against hotel staff and significant property damage.

Destruction and Violence Erupt

Lonergan smashed bathroom tiles, signs, and computer screens in the hotel reception. During his arrest, several officers were assaulted. Police cells also suffered damage amid the scuffle.

Serious Charges Laid

  • Two counts of criminal damage
  • Four counts of assaulting emergency workers
  • Three counts of threatening and abusive behaviour – including one racially aggravated

Lonergan, who has no fixed address, faced Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on 31 January. He was remanded in custody ahead of his next hearing at Canterbury Crown Court on 28 February 2022.
