Kent Police were called out on Saturday, June 25, 2022, after a charity shop on Pelham Road South was targeted. Thieves made off with a large sum of money. Just two days later, a takeaway restaurant on The Hill suffered the same fate, with cash stolen straight from the till.

Rochester High Street Attempted Break-In Leads to Arrest

In the early hours of Tuesday, July 5, officers responded to a tip-off from a member of the public. Around 2 a.m., two men were spotted trying to break into a business on Rochester High Street. Police quickly tracked the suspects down to a nearby alley. One officer even leapt over a wall during the chase.

Patrick Downey Charged and Remanded

Police arrested Patrick Downey, 35, of Greenhill Road, Gravesend, linking him to two burglaries and one attempted break-in. The same day, Downey appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court. He was remanded ahead of a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on July 27.
