Teenager Shot in Swindon Amid Handgun Attack
Late-Night Shooting Shakes Penhill
Wiltshire Police have launched a major investigation after a 17-year-old boy was shot early Monday morning in Swindon’s Penhill area. The incident unfolded just before 12:30 a.m. on Odstock Road, prompting an armed police response alongside local officers and emergency services.
Serious Injuries and Air Ambulance Evacuation
The teenager suffered severe, possibly life-changing injuries believed to be caused by a handgun. After stabilising him at the scene, medics called in the Wiltshire Air Ambulance. The victim was airlifted to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford at around 1:40 a.m. for urgent treatment.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and CCTV Footage
“We are actively investigating this incident with all of the resources at our disposal,” said Detective Chief Inspector Charlotte Tucker. “We would appreciate hearing from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed what happened.”
Authorities are also urging locals to check any CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage from April 23rd and 24th.
No Ongoing Threat But Investigation Continues
Police stress there is currently no threat to the wider public. Their hearts go out to the victim’s family and friends while they delve deeper into the attack.
