Joseph Trevor, 19, has admitted raping and murdering Megan Newton, 18, in a shocking attack last April. Megan was stabbed eight times in the back and strangled in her own flat in Stoke-on-Trent.
Victim Invited Killer Inside
Megan showed a heartbreaking act of kindness by inviting Trevor to her supported housing complex flat after he was too drunk to get home. Prosecutor Adrian Keeling QC told Stafford Crown Court:
“He raped and murdered her in the early hours of April 20. She invited him back as an act of kindness.”
Tragic End to a Friendly Gesture
Trevor, unable to get home to his parents due to his intoxication, turned violent and took Megan’s life in a brutal spree that has left the community reeling.
