Teen Jailed for Three Years After Brutal Crash Leaves Man Seriously Injured
18-Year-Old Fails to Stop for Police
Martin Ward, 18, sparked chaos when he refused to stop for officers. His vehicle then smashed into a Vauxhall Astra on the A449 near Dunston Business Park. The Astra was travelling in the opposite direction when the collision happened.
Victim Left With Life-Altering Injuries
The crash left a man seriously hurt. Ward’s reckless driving caused lasting damage, not only to the victim but also to his family. “No punishment will truly reflect the pain and suffering I have gone through,” said the victim’s driver.
Police and Courts Take a Hard Line
PC Matt Brailsford of Staffordshire and West Midlands Serious Collision Investigation Unit slammed Ward’s actions. “The injuries the victim sustained as a result of Ward’s reckless driving will have long lasting effects for both him and his family,” he said.
Ward was sentenced to three years behind bars and banned from driving for four and a half years. “I welcome the court’s decision to ban Ward from driving,” added PC Brailsford.
