Cambridge Duo’s Shocking Robbery and Assault Uncovered
Nathan Arliss, 18, and Sally Owen-Brown, 18, pulled off a chilling scam in Cambridge. On 16 February, Arliss forced a man to transfer every penny from his bank account. It all started when Owen-Brown, his accomplice, flirted with the victim the day before to gain his trust.
Flirty Trap Leads to Violence and Theft
Owen-Brown messaged the victim early on 16 February, claiming she hadn’t eaten and was behind on rent. Feeling sorry for her, the man sent her £20. She invited him to her flat that evening to “watch a film,” but the meeting turned sinister fast.
Just seconds after the victim arrived, Arliss barged in with two others, accusing him of chasing “underage girls.” The thug then punched the man repeatedly in the temple, cheek, and jaw, threatening him to hand over his cash.
Terrified, the man was forced to reveal his bank details and transfer his entire £340 balance to Owen-Brown. Arliss then deleted her contact from the victim’s phone and warned: if he called the cops or contacted her again, he’d be killed.
Another Victim Assaulted Over E-Scooter
Just hours before, on 15 February, Owen-Brown lured another man to her flat under the pretext of selling tobacco. When he showed up with his black e-scooter, Arliss tried to snatch it. After the man refused, Arliss pummeled him with at least 10 punches before making off with the scooter.
Justice Served at Cambridge Crown Court
Police arrested Arliss and Owen-Brown just before midnight on 16 February. Arliss denies robbery but admitted the assaults. Owen-Brown mostly stayed silent but claimed she tried to stop the attack on the 16th.
At Cambridge Crown Court on 19 May, Arliss pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery. He was sentenced to two years and four months in a young offenders’ institution. Owen-Brown admitted transferring criminal property and received a 12-month community order with mental health and rehabilitation requirements.
PC Andy Watters said: “The two defendants had no thought whatsoever for their victims. I hope the sentence allows them to reflect and learn a valuable lesson. Owen-Brown lured men to her flat before Arliss violently attacked them. No one deserves this treatment. We’ll keep fighting to bring offenders like this to justice.”
