Cell Mate Falls to His Death Days Before Paedophile’s Court Hearing

A three-time convicted paedophile’s cell mate tragically fell from a bunk and died just days before the sex offender was due to appear in court, Swindon Crown Court heard.

Swindon Man Faces Fresh Sex Charges

Darren Brazier, 38, of Swindon, appeared at court on Monday. He was expected to enter pleas over alleged breaches of a sexual harm prevention order. These include messaging an under-18 between December 2019 and March 2020, sending a video of himself masturbating to a 14-year-old girl, inciting her to perform a sex act on herself, and creating an indecent pseudo-photograph of a child.

Brazier has already admitted earlier breaches of the same order and breaking a suspended prison sentence handed down last April.

Brazier’s Dark History of Child Abuse Images

Last year, Brazier avoided jail despite admitting he owned a horrific collection of one million indecent images and videos. The gruesome stash showed girls as young as two being raped or tortured. He started building his sick collection just five months after walking free in 2010 for possessing 100,000 indecent images.

Legal Drama Delays Hearing

Brazier, appearing via video link from Winchester Prison, asked for new lawyers, claiming private funding. His new firm, Stone King, requested an adjournment. Lawyer Nicholas Wragg said the death of Brazier’s cell mate had a “disturbing effect” on his client.

The judge agreed to delay the plea hearing until October 20.
