Brutal abuser Joshua Hamilton jailed for more than a year of terror
Relentless violence and control exposed
Joshua Hamilton subjected his victim to a horrifying campaign of abuse throughout 2020 and 2021. The 24-year-old repeatedly punched, kicked, and even trod on her feet. But the violence didn’t stop there — he shredded her clothes, pulled her hair, hit her with a belt, and grabbed her throat in vicious attacks.
Mental torment was constant. Hamilton forced the victim to stand facing the corner for long periods and monitored her every move. He made repeated death threats, keeping her locked in fear.
Hamilton finally brought to justice
From his home in Rankine Road, Tunbridge Wells, Hamilton was caught and arrested in April 2020. Maidstone Crown Court heard he faced charges including assault, sending threatening messages, criminal damage, and breaching bail conditions. The defendant pleaded guilty and was sentenced on April 26, 2022.
He also received a 10-year restraining order to protect the victim going forward.
Victim praised for bravery, police vow support
Detective Chief Inspector Steve Mclean, of the West Kent Vulnerability Investigation Team, said: “Hamilton relentlessly abused, isolated and tormented his victim. His appalling violence was meant to control, humiliate, and degrade her, putting her life in constant danger.”
“I would like to commend the victim for her courage and strength in giving evidence. Thanks to her bravery, Hamilton now faces justice and is behind bars.”
