Brutal Attack Lands Southampton Man Behind Bars
Geoffrey Beadle, 41, of Denmead Road, Southampton, was slammed with an 18-month jail sentence and slapped with a five-year restraining order yesterday at Southampton Crown Court. The sentence follows a violent domestic assault last September that left the victim badly injured and traumatised.
Violent Assault Shatters Relationship
On the evening of September 24 last year, Beadle erupted into violence during an argument with his then-partner. The attack quickly escalated as he hurled metal poles at her, ripped out a chunk of her hair, choked her, kicked her, stamped on her, and gouged her eyes with his fingers—shattering her glasses in the process.
The victim suffered a cut nose, a bloodshot eye, bruises, and neck injuries.
Victim Speaks Out: Nightmares and Panic Attacks
“I regularly had nightmares about the incident or that I was still with Beadle. I am still greatly impacted by the incident and it has had an ongoing and severe effect on me,” the victim said in a statement.
“Certain triggers like loud music from vehicles cause panic attacks. I feel isolated and struggle to trust my judgement or even my memory because it was questioned so many times. Starting over and building a new life has been incredibly tough.”
Since Beadle’s sentencing, she added, “I am so relieved he is in prison. I can finally enjoy life and visit friends knowing he cannot hurt me anymore.”
Investigator Praises Courage, Urges Others to Speak Up
Police Staff Investigator Rebecca Stevens, who led the case, praised the victim’s bravery. “Beadle showed zero remorse, but the jury took just 26 minutes to find him guilty. This sentence isn’t just punishment — it gives this woman a chance to build a life free from his shadow.”
Stevens urged anyone suffering domestic abuse to seek help. “It’s never too late. You will be believed and supported the moment you reach out.”
