Woman Charged with Murder After Human Remains Found in Canterbury
Detectives swooped on Thursday, 11 July 2024, after human remains were discovered at a home on St Martin’s Road, Canterbury.
Missing Man Identified as Jeremy Rickards
Police are still confirming the identity of the deceased. However, the family of Jeremy Rickards, 65, who was reported missing on 5 July after last being seen in early June, has been informed.
Maureen Rickards Charged with Murder
On Saturday, 13 July, the Crown Prosecution Service charged 50-year-old Maureen Rickards, from St Martin’s Road, with murder. She was remanded in custody and set to appear at Margate Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 15 July.
Ongoing Police Investigation
The Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate is leading the probe. Residents on St Martin’s Road should expect a heavy police presence as the investigation continues.
