Young woman shot dead in her own home in Liverpool
Ashley Dale fatally shot in Old Swan garden
Ashley Dale, 28, was found injured in her back garden in Old Swan, Liverpool, just after midnight on Sunday. She died shortly after arriving at hospital.
Police revealed her front door had been forced open before several shots were fired inside the home on Leinster Road.
Police call her death “callous and senseless”
Detective Chief Superintendent Mark Kameen described Ashley as an “innocent member of the public” and said she was “callously and thoughtlessly shot” in her own home.
He urged the community to feel “utter disgust, revulsion and shock” at the tragic killing and appealed for anyone with information to come forward, especially regarding a vehicle seen driving erratically on nearby Prescot Road.
Ashley Dale’s family devastated
Ashley’s family paid tribute, describing her as “a hardworking young woman with her entire life ahead of her.” She recently earned a promotion at Knowsley Council and held a university degree.
They said, “She had so many plans for her bright future that had only just begun. Her laugh, smile, and energy were infectious in any room. We can’t believe this could happen to a defenceless woman in her own home.”
Tragic family history
Ashley was also the half-sister of Lewis Dunne, a 16-year-old who was murdered in Liverpool in 2015 due to mistaken identity.
