Obsession turns ugly: Woman jailed for stalking ex and racially abusing him

Tia McBean, 23, from Besson Street, SE14, has been slammed with 15 months behind bars at Woolwich Crown Court for a terrifying two-year campaign of harassment, stalking, and racial abuse against her ex.

Cyber and physical stalking spree

After their brief relationship ended in 2018, McBean launched a relentless assault on her ex. She bombarded him and his partner with up to 100 phone calls a day. She made false police reports accusing him of kidnap and child abuse multiple times, wasting valuable police resources.

The court revealed she plastered hate notes and photos on his front door and dumped rubbish outside his home. Even a restraining order in May 2019 didn’t stop her obsessive harassment.

Pig’s head shock and racial abuse

McBean’s twisted attempts to contact her victim escalated in February 2020. She repeatedly sent takeaway deliveries to his home and workplace. The horror peaked when a severed pig’s head was delivered to his workplace, shocking colleagues and sparking a police investigation.

Less than two weeks later, she was caught on CCTV daubing racial slurs on his property. Arrested on 11 March 2020, McBean was charged but continued her campaign from bail, making more false reports and intimidating witnesses.

Detective’s warning and sentence

“McBean subjected the victim to a torrent of hate over a sustained period,” said Detective Constable Vikki Eaton from the Met’s South East Public Protection Unit.

“Her unrelenting fixation caused serious distress to the victim, his family, and friends. She is a dangerous individual and her sentence is fully deserved.”

“Her false accusations wasted police time and showed blatant disregard for the law. I hope this sentence brings the victim some closure.”

McBean now faces 15 months imprisonment for stalking, harassment, racially aggravated property damage, breaching a restraining order seven times, and sending offensive communications.
