Man Jailed for Throwing Ashtray and Smashing Woman’s Face
Mark Forder, 55, has been locked up for two years and three months after hurling an ashtray at his partner, causing serious facial injuries and knocking out some of her teeth. The shocking attack took place on June 10, 2021, inside their bedroom.
Victim Left ‘Heartbroken and Afraid’
In court, the victim shared a heartfelt statement: “I feel heartbroken, shocked and afraid. The man who said he loved me and promised to protect me caused this pain. The cuts have healed, but the scars remind me of this nightmare every day. I feel ugly, scared, and unable to trust anyone anymore.”
Forder was sentenced to a total of two years and three months in prison. He must also pay £500 compensation and will face a two-year restraining order after release.
Police Praise Sentence, Urge Victims to Speak Out
Investigating Officer Sian McLean from Bedfordshire Police’s Emerald team said: “I’m pleased Forder got a custodial sentence and will face a restraining order. His violent actions caused huge distress and fear.”
She added: “Violence of any kind is unacceptable. If you feel unsafe at home, we can help. Bedfordshire is committed to tackling male violence against women and girls through numerous initiatives to keep our county safe.”
“Our specialist officers support victims of domestic violence. We encourage anyone suffering abuse to speak out so we can investigate and bring offenders to justice.”
