Tragic Crash in Oldham Claims Young Girl’s Life
At around 5pm on Saturday 18 December, a horror collision on Coleridge Road, Oldham left a 10-year-old girl dead and another child injured.
Red Land Rover Hits Two Children, Then Lamp Post
The drama unfolded when a red Land Rover Discovery struck two young children. Following the initial impact, the vehicle crashed into a lamp post.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene. The 10-year-old girl was rushed to hospital with serious injuries but sadly died shortly after. The other child, treated for head and ankle injuries, remains in a stable condition.
Driver Arrested on Suspicion of Dangerous Driving & DUI
A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving under the influence. He remains in custody as police continue their investigation.
“Our thoughts are with the little girl’s family at this unimaginably difficult time,” said Sergeant Matthew Waggett of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
“While we’ve arrested a man, we’re working quickly to unravel the full details of this collision. We urge anyone with dashcam footage or info about the red Land Rover Discovery before or during the crash to come forward.”
“This happened at a busy time of day, so we hope witnesses will help with our enquiries.”
