Drug Haul Thwarted in Portsmouth After Dramatic Chase

Police officers pulled over a vehicle heading into Hampshire via the A3 on St George’s Road, Portsmouth, at 9.30pm on Tuesday, June 28. The stop sparked a tense scene.

Man Dumps Drugs in Water

A passenger jumped from the car and ran towards the Millennium Walkway at Gunwharf Quays. Witnesses say he hurled a rucksack containing suspected Class A drugs into the water.

Two Men Arrested and Charged

  • James Brian Rose, 27, from North Road, Shanklin, faces charges of concealing criminal property and two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
  • Martyn Andrew Shotton, 44, from Sun Hill, Cowes, is charged with concealing criminal property, drug driving, and two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Both men are remanded in custody and set to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on June 30.
