Man Sets Fire to Ex’s Home, Rides Away on E-Scooter
Brandon Jones sparked terror on March 31, 2021, when he doused a woman’s home in petrol and set it alight – then fled the scene on his electric scooter.
Threats and Fire: The Shocking Attack
Jones had already sent threatening texts to the woman. After she refused him entry, he intimidated her once more before jumping into a taxi. He then collected his e-scooter from another address and sped off to a nearby service station.
Returning to her house, Jones poured petrol through the letterbox, igniting it and sending flames roaring into the hallway. Neighbours sounded the alarm as he escaped on his scooter.
Heroic Rescue by Fire Crews
The woman and her child were trapped and forced to flee via a first-floor window. Kent Fire and Rescue Service bravely rescued them, preventing a potential tragedy.
“This criminal has shown a callous disregard for the life of others by setting fire to the main exit from the victim’s property,” said Police Sergeant John-Paul Foley.
“His cowardly actions could have been fatal if the responding fire crews had not acted quickly.”
Justice Served: Jones Gets Eight Years

On June 23, 2022, he was slammed with an eight-year prison sentence plus four years on licence.
Sgt Foley added: “Jones is undeniably a dangerous individual who has now begun, quite rightly, a lengthy prison sentence.”
