Woman Jailed for Brutal Domestic Abuse in Market Weighton
Sheree Spencer, 45, from Beales Close, Market Weighton, has been slammed with a four-year prison sentence for horrific abuse against her husband. She faced Hull Crown Court last month, convicted of years of coercive control and three violent assaults between 2016 and 2021.
‘Worst Case of Controlling Behaviour’
Judge Kate Rayfield condemned the abuse as “the worst case of controlling and coercive behaviour I have seen.” Spencer was handed a prison term plus an indefinite restraining order.
The assaults included shocking violence: Spencer spat at her husband, grabbed him by the throat, and even bit him repeatedly. In the worst attack, she smashed a wine bottle over him, leaving permanent damage to his ear and elbow.
Police Praise Victim’s Courage, Warn Others
“Sheree Spencer is an abusive and violent woman who subjected her husband to years of abuse,” said PC Adele Jenkinson.
“I want to recognise Mr Spencer’s incredible strength and patience during this investigation. I hope this sentence helps him and his loved ones find closure and look towards a brighter future.”
“We want anyone affected by domestic abuse or violence to know they will be heard and supported. No matter who you are, help is available, and justice will be pursued.”
