Predator Jose Bantina-Lubangusu Found Guilty of Child Rape

Jose Bantina-Lubangusu, 53, from Wick Road, E9, was convicted of raping and sexually assaulting a girl under 13. The verdict came after a gruelling trial at Wood Green Crown Court on 21 December.

Years of Abuse Behind Closed Doors

The girl, known to Bantina-Lubangusu, endured years of grooming and abuse. It started when she was just 12. The vile predator would leave money in her shoes and demand sex in return. The horrifying abuse escalated to rape in January 2022 at Sacha’s Hotel in Manchester, when the girl was 16.

Brave Sister’s Tip-Off Leads to Arrest

The victim bravely confided in her sister, who alerted police in December 2022. Bantina-Lubangusu was arrested and detectives gathered solid evidence, including an audio recording of his chilling confession. Despite the evidence, he pleaded not guilty.

Detective Praises Victim’s Courage As Justice Is Served

Detective Constable Hannah Burgess from the Child Abuse Investigation Unit said:

“The bravery this young woman has shown throughout is commendable. It is due to her that Jose Bantina-Lubangusu has been put before the court and made to face the consequences of his disgusting and evil crimes.

“Throughout the investigation, detectives built a comprehensive case while keeping this young woman at the heart of our work. I hope seeing him convicted can offer her a small degree of comfort and relief during what has been an extremely difficult time.”

Bantina-Lubangusu will be sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court on 23 February 2023.
