Cop Fired for Sexist Rant and Threats Against Female Colleagues
PC Terrence Ellis, a Parliamentary and Diplomatic Command officer, faced a four-day gross misconduct hearing over shocking allegations of abusive behaviour towards female colleagues.
Threatening and Sexist Comments Lead to Suspension
In September 2022, Ellis was accused of using threatening, abusive, and insulting language against one female colleague. He also threw sexist and misogynistic remarks at another. He was swiftly suspended following these claims.
Dismissed Without Notice After Panel Hearing
After hearing all evidence, the misconduct panel dismissed PC Ellis without notice on Friday, 19 July. His career with the force ended abruptly.
Senior Officer Condemns ‘Disgusting Behaviour’
Chief Superintendent Andy Burton, responsible for policing the command, said:
“PC Ellis’s disgusting behaviour and language has led to his dismissal, a decision I fully support and welcome. This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable. This outcome shows we’re serious about rooting out officers who fail our standards.”
Burton also praised the brave officers who stood up to Ellis’s conduct, highlighting their professionalism and courage.
Ellis Now Barred from Future Police Work
Following the hearing, PC Ellis was added to the College of Policing’s barred list. Anyone on this list cannot work for any police force, local policing bodies, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, or His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services.
