PC Saadane Mansouri Sacked Over Embassy Contact and Data Leak
PC Saadane Mansouri, from Specialist Operations, has been dismissed following a gross misconduct hearing that ended on 29 May. The decision came after an Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) directed investigation.
Undisclosed Contact with Algerian Embassy
Mansouri allegedly maintained regular contact with staff at the Algerian Embassy between March 2019 and December 2020. He often failed to properly record these communications, using his personal phone instead of official channels.
Worse still, the officer reportedly shared sensitive police system information, including details about protest activities, with embassy staff.
Misuse of Police Records Exposed
The misconduct panel uncovered that in 2019 Mansouri accessed police records about a neighbour. He had no official involvement in this case, making the access unauthorised and a breach of protocol.
Professional Standards Breached
The allegations against Mansouri covered multiple serious breaches:
- Confidentiality violations
- Disregard for orders and instructions
- Failure in duties and responsibilities
- Compromised integrity
He was suspended from duty when these issues first came to light in March 2020.
Met Commander Condemns Misconduct
Commander Katie Lilburn, head of the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards, slammed Mansouri’s behaviour:
“Everyone who works in our organisation knows that police systems must only be used when there is a legitimate reason. This officer’s behaviour was completely unacceptable.”
“Honesty and integrity are at the heart of everything we do, and we will identify and hold to account those who do not meet these values.”
