Man, 27, Charged After Threatening Woman with Knife Over Arcade Winnings

Knifepoint Robbery Shocks Kent Town

William Smith, 27, from Beechwood Drive, Meopham, was charged with robbery and carrying a knife in public. The charge follows a chilling incident on Wednesday 2 June on Leysdown Road.

Smith allegedly targeted a 19-year-old woman after spotting her win a large sum of money from an arcade machine at around 3.20pm.

Victim Threatened and Pushed to Floor

The woman was reportedly threatened with a knife. An altercation ensued, during which she was pushed to the ground. Smith then snatched her purse and fled the scene.

Police Nab Suspect After Search Warrant

Officers executed a search warrant and arrested Smith at a Shoreham address on Monday 2 August. He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court the next day.

Smith was remanded ahead of his next court hearing at Woolwich Crown Court on Tuesday 31 August.
