A schoolboy set off a bomb scare after suspicious items were discovered at his family home in Monkseaton, North Tyneside. Police swooped on the property Friday afternoon, bringing in bomb disposal experts for a full sweep.

Bomb Squad Descends on Monkseaton Home

Officers raided the house just after 1.15pm following reports of strange activity. During the search, they found suspicious items that forced the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team to step in for a detailed sweep. Forensic teams were later spotted running intensive checks at the scene.

Secondary School Pupil Arrested and Charged

The boy, said to be white British and of secondary school age, was arrested on the spot. Northumbria Police confirmed he faces charges of possessing an explosive substance. He is set to appear at Bedlington Magistrates Court this Monday.

Police Assure No Threat to Public

“There is no risk to the wider public,” a police spokesman said.

Authorities warned against speculation as the investigation continues, stressing that public safety remains their top priority despite the alarming find.
