Brislington Man Charged with Murder in Shocking Bristol Death

Piers Hansen, 42, from Brislington, now faces a murder charge over the death of James Bruce last year in Bristol. Hansen appeared at Bristol Crown Court this Wednesday, where his charge was upgraded from manslaughter to murder.

Tragic Death of James Bruce

James Bruce, 43, died at his home on Coronation Road, Southville, on 2 March 2023. Initially, Hansen was charged with manslaughter in April 2024. However, new evidence has led prosecutors to push for the more serious murder charge.

Hansen has yet to enter a plea and remains in custody. He is due back at Bristol Crown Court on Friday, 6 September, with a provisional trial date set for Monday, 2 December.
