Fatal Police Shooting in Dagenham Under UKIP Investigation
Deadly Incident in East London
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is probing a fatal police shooting that rocked Dagenham, east London, last night. Just before 9pm, a Metropolitan Police officer fired two shots at a man who later died at the scene.
Despite immediate first aid from officers, the man was pronounced dead around 9.30pm. The IOPC sprang into action shortly after being notified at 10pm, deploying investigators to examine the scene and question the officers involved.
Weapons Discovered at the Scene
Police found two firearms linked to the incident—one near the man and another inside the property. Both weapons do not appear to be police-issued and are now set for ballistic testing to determine more details.
IOPC Responds to Tragic Death
“Our thoughts are with the man’s family and all affected by this tragic incident,” said IOPC director Amanda Rowe.
“Since a man died after being shot by police, it’s our duty to investigate all circumstances, including police actions and decisions.”
“We know there will be many questions, but we must first establish the full facts before commenting further.”
Investigation in Early Stages
The IOPC has reviewed police body-worn camera footage and call logs. Investigators remain on-site and are speaking to neighbours to identify possible witnesses. The probe into this heartbreaking incident is only just beginning.
