Kingston Teen Fatally Stabbed After Van Attack

A night out in Kingston turned deadly when 19-year-old Archie Beston was fatally stabbed in a shocking street attack. The tragedy unfolded in the early hours of Saturday, 29 February, on Clarence Street.

Van Used as Weapon Before Stabbing

Archie was with friends at around 3.40am when he witnessed a van deliberately driven towards another 19-year-old, known as Victim 2. The driver, Finlay Ahwan, 20, used the vehicle as a weapon.

In the chaos that followed, Tyron Bryan, 20, who had been in the van with Ahwan, stabbed Archie. Bryan also stabbed Victim 2, who required hospital treatment.

Convictions for Manslaughter and Attempted GBH

  • Tyron Bryan, of Ely Court, Kingston, was convicted at Kingston Crown Court on 2 October of manslaughter for killing Archie. He was also found guilty of Section 20 grievous bodily harm (GBH) on Victim 2 and possession of an offensive weapon.
  • Finlay Ahwan, from Worcester Park Road, Worcester Park, was found guilty of attempted GBH with the vehicle and dangerous driving.

Police and members of the public tried to save Archie’s life at the scene before paramedics arrived. He was rushed to hospital but sadly died six days later.

Detectives Condemn Attackers as ‘Pathetic and Cowardly’

Detective Chief Inspector Helen Rance from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command led the investigation. She described Archie as a “19-year-old who had never been in trouble” and “loved by all his family, especially his mum, Becky.”

“Bryan and Ahwan are pathetic and cowardly individuals. Bryan used a knife to attack an unarmed teenager while Ahwan’s weapon of choice was a two-tonne van. Both had previous convictions for knife offences. Bryan’s decision to carry a knife has left Archie’s family grieving and Bryan facing a prison sentence after sentencing on 29 October,” DCI Rance said.

Family Heartbroken Over ‘Innocent’ Son

Archie’s family spoke out after the conviction:

“Archie was our whole world. Loved by everyone, he had no enemies and was always willing to help. He planned to travel the world and work in Ibiza this summer. He was sweet-natured, popular, and had never been in trouble. Tragically, he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

This brutal attack has devastated a tight-knit community in Kingston as justice is served for Archie Beston.
