Homeless Robber Jailed for Targeting 98-Year-Old in Cold-Blooded Raid
Keith Bunce, 44, a homeless man, has been locked up for four and a half years after robbing a 98-year-old pensioner in his own home.
Shocking Break-in on Dolphin Road
The terrifying incident unfolded on 28 September in Slough. The elderly victim heard a knock at his door but chose to ignore it.
Instead of leaving, Bunce smashed through the victim’s patio door and threatened the nonagenarian, demanding cash.
He made off with £100 before fleeing. Thankfully, the victim wasn’t hurt during the ordeal.
Swift Justice Delivered at Reading Crown Court
Bunce was arrested the very next day and charged on 1 October. He pleaded guilty to robbery at Reading Crown Court and was sentenced on 18 November.
Alongside his 4 years 6 months jail term, he was ordered to pay £190.
Police Condemn the “Cowardly” Attack
“This was an extremely serious ordeal to have happened to a 98-year-old male in the comfort of his own home,” said Wushma Qureshi, the Slough priority crime team investigator.
“The victim had previously shown kindness by giving the offender money – only to be repaid with a break-in while he watched helplessly from his armchair.”
“I am satisfied with the sentence handed out to Bunce, which will give him time to think about his cowardly behaviour. Combatting robbery is a priority for Thames Valley Police and it will never be tolerated in our communities.”
