Man Charged After Bus-Pedestrian Crash in Croydon

Serious Collision on George Street

Detectives from the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command have charged a man following a serious crash involving a bus and a pedestrian in Croydon. The incident happened just after 1pm on Saturday, 5 October, on George Street.

Pedestrian Rushed to Hospital in Critical Condition

Emergency crews, including paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, arrived quickly at the scene. A 46-year-old man was found seriously injured and rushed to hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Bus Driver Arrested and Charged with Drug Driving

Bus driver Akil Atkins, 30, of Tipton Drive, Croydon, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drug driving. He was formally charged on Sunday, 6 October, with the offence. Atkins has since been released on bail and is set to return for questioning in mid-December as the investigation continues.
