Hanley police smashed down on a learner driver flaunting the rules by hitting the roads without L plates or proper supervision. The vehicle was promptly seized, sending a loud message across Staffordshire.
“Sweet Chariot” Nabbed on Routine Patrol
Officers stopped the car, jokingly dubbed a “sweet chariot” on social media, during routine patrols. It quickly emerged the driver was completely breaking the law by driving solo on a provisional licence.
Strict Learner Rules Flouted
- Provisional licence holders must be accompanied by a driver over 21 with at least three years of full licence experience.
- L plates must be clearly displayed at all times on the vehicle.
Hanley’s police spokesperson said:
“The vehicle was seized after the driver was caught driving on a provisional licence without appropriate supervision or L plates. The driver has been reported for the relevant offences.”
Driver Faces Court Action as Police Crack Down
The impounded car won’t be going anywhere soon, as the driver prepares to face court. Police urge all learner drivers to stick to the rules to keep Staffordshire’s roads safe.
