Harassment Charges Dropped Against Man Linked to Former Fire Chief
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has dropped all charges against Benjamin Walker, who was accused of harassing Wayne Brown, the ex-head of the West Midlands Fire Service.
Tragic Death After Social Media Storm
Wayne Brown died suddenly last year, just a day after the fire service revealed he was under investigation following social media claims questioning his qualifications. Brown, known for his bald head and signature black jacket with shoulder buttons over a white shirt, had decades of service before becoming West Midlands Fire chief.
CPS Statement and Family Response
“We have concluded that there is no longer a realistic prospect of conviction and therefore discontinued the case,” a CPS spokesperson said.
“Our thoughts remain with the family of Wayne Brown following his tragic death last year. Mr Brown’s family have been informed, and we have met with them to discuss our decision.”
Shock and Tributes from Fire Service Community
Brown’s sudden passing, amid intense scrutiny and an internal probe, stunned colleagues and sparked widespread tributes. There will be no further action on the harassment case against Benjamin Walker.
