Kent Police Arrest Man After Violent Clash in Village

Kent Police were called out to a disturbance in a village on the evening of Thursday 4 July 2023. During their patrol, officers tracked down a suspect hiding in an outbuilding off Woodbury Road.

Constable Left with Facial Injuries During Arrest

As police moved to arrest the man, identified as Cameron Jeffery, 21, a constable was punched in the face. Despite being detained and taken to hospital for a leg injury, Jeffery allegedly continued his violent behaviour. At the hospital, he reportedly tried to kick and headbutt officers. One officer was even bitten on the hand.

Man Charged with Four Counts of Assault on Emergency Workers

Jeffery, from Vale Road, Hawkhurst, was charged with four counts of assaulting an emergency worker. He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 6 July and was granted conditional bail. His next hearing is scheduled for 26 July at maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone Magistrates’ Court.
