Knife-Wielding Robber Nabbed in Gravesend
Police made a quick arrest after a knife robbery rocked Gravesend town centre. On Monday, February 20, a man in his twenties was out socialising when he was approached by strangers. He followed them to a spot near Harmer Street, where one allegedly pulled a knife and threatened him.
Victim Forced to Hand Over Phone – Money Stolen
The victim handed over his phone under threat. The device was then reportedly used to transfer cash from his bank account. Police swung into action.
Suspect Caught with Drugs and Charged
The very next day, Kent Crime Squad arrested a man believed to be involved. Officers seized 21 wraps of suspected heroin and one wrap of cocaine. Darryl Carpenter, 19, of no fixed address, faces multiple charges:
- Robbery
- Public possession of a knife
- Possession of cocaine with intent to supply
- Possession of heroin with intent to supply
Carpenter appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, February 23. He was remanded ahead of a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on March 23.
