A tense night turned dangerous for a 20-something man in Gravesend town centre on February 20, 2023. While socialising, he was approached by strangers and led near Harmer Street, where a man brandishing a knife allegedly threatened him.

The victim gave up his phone under duress. Before it was returned, it was reportedly used to transfer money out of his bank account, sparking swift police action.
Kent Crime Squad Nab Suspect with Drugs
The day after the incident, Kent Crime Squad arrested a man linked to the robbery. Officers also seized 21 wraps suspected to contain heroin and cocaine.
Darryl Carpenter Faces Multiple Charges
Darryl Carpenter, 19, of no fixed address, was charged with robbery, possession of a knife in public, and possession with intent to supply both cocaine and heroin. He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on February 23 and was remanded to Maidstone Crown Court for a March 23 hearing.
