Chatham Drug Dealer Locked Up After Huge Heroin and Cocaine Haul Found
A Chatham drug dealer has been slammed behind bars after cops uncovered a stash of heroin and cocaine during a raid on his flat.
Undercover Cops Spot Dealer in Action
On 12 December 2019, plainclothes officers on patrol spotted a group of known drug users lurking in an alley between Afghan Road and Fort Pitt Street. Sensing a deal was about to go down, officers waited near a block of flats. Moments later, Roger Okello emerged from a communal door.
Quick Arrest and Big Drug Bust
When police revealed themselves, Okello dropped a mobile phone and denied it belonged to him. He was arrested on the spot. A search of his flat uncovered 80 wraps of heroin, electronic scales, and more than £840 in cash. The drugs had a street value of around £1,000. Officers also found a wrap of cocaine hidden inside Okello’s trainer during a search at the police station.
Dealer Pleads Guilty, Jailed for Over Two Years
The 24-year-old from Fort Pitt Street admitted to possession of heroin and cocaine with intent to supply, plus possession of criminal property. On 23 January 2020, Maidstone Crown Court sentenced him to two years and seven months behind bars.
“These drug dealers prey on the most vulnerable and cause misery to families and the wider community,” said District Commander for Medway, Chief Inspector Ian Dyball. “My officers continue to target them and will act proactively to bring them to justice at every opportunity. It is quite right that this individual is now serving a jail sentence.”
