China Slams Trump Over Daring Maduro Capture
Beijing has hit out at Donald Trump following the brazen US raid to seize Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. China accused America of breaking international law and demanded the immediate release of Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.
The White House signalled a full-scale takeover of Venezuela’s massive oil reserves, vowing that American oil giants will “go in and rebuild the system.”
China Vows to Protect Multi-Billion Oil Deals Amid US Raid
China, one of Venezuela’s biggest oil investors, has insisted their contracts are legally binding and will be defended under international law. The warning comes as Maduro faces “narco-terrorism” charges in a New York court.
Shockingly, just a day before his capture, Maduro met China’s Special Representative on Latin America in Caracas — sparking speculation Beijing had early knowledge of the US strike.
Global Fury: Iran, Russia, North Korea, Mexico & More Condemn US Raid
- Iran slammed the operation as “illegal,” condemning it as a blatant breach of Venezuelan sovereignty.
- Russia demanded Washington “release Maduro immediately.”
- North Korea called the raid a “serious encroachment of sovereignty.”
- Mexico warned the move “seriously jeopardises regional stability.”
- Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro branded it “an assault on Latin America’s sovereignty” that could trigger a humanitarian crisis.
Trump’s Oil Grab Sparks Global Showdown
Mark Almond, director of Oxford’s Crisis Research Institute, told The Mail on Sunday the US move puts Trump in control of oil supplies China desperately needs. “China might be a global power, but it’s energy-poor. It’ll need new sources of cheap oil to keep its factories running,” he said.
The mission involved commandos, jets, and naval forces, highlighting the critical value of Venezuela’s oil — the world’s largest proven reserves. Over a dozen Venezuelan oil tankers fled, apparently trying to dodge US forces.
Trump boasted: “We need total access. We need access to the oil and other things in their country that allow us to rebuild their country.”
Experts warn that pumping Venezuelan crude could flood global markets and slash oil prices. Meanwhile, Beijing’s furious protests reveal a new battleground for natural resources — and this geopolitical showdown is just getting started.
