Maidstone Flat Shut Down After String of Chaos
A flat in Maidstone’s Parkwood area has been slapped with a closure order after a series of violent incidents, drug misuse, noise, and anti-social behaviour rocked the local community.
The order was handed down at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on Friday, March 15, 2024, following a flood of complaints from residents near Wallis Avenue.
Three-Month Lockdown for Troubled Property
The flat, now sealed off for three months, bans any unauthorised entry. Anyone caught sneaking in faces steep fines and possible jail time.
Officers worked hand-in-hand with Golding Homes, the housing association that owns the property. After confirming the flat was empty, they secured it and slapped a warning sign on the door to keep troublemakers out.
‘Enough Is Enough’ – Cops Crack Down
“Residents have endured violent disturbances, drug abuse, and noise at all hours by those frequenting this flat,” said Inspector Steve Kent from the Maidstone Community Safety Unit. “Even after repeated warnings, the chaos continued, culminating in recent hammer damage to a window.”
Using the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, police and housing bosses moved quickly to shut down the flat for good.
Maidstone Authorities Send a Clear Message
Inspector Kent made it clear that Kent Police, Maidstone Borough Council, and housing associations won’t tolerate this behaviour.
“People who benefit from housing but wreck the community can expect fast, firm action,” he said.
This closure order shows authorities are serious about keeping Maidstone’s neighbourhoods safe and peaceful, stamping out anti-social behaviour for good.
