Couple Charged Over Baby’s Body Found in Brighton Shed

Constance Marten and Mark Gordon face trial in January 2024 for the alleged manslaughter of baby girl Victoria. Her remains were discovered in a Brighton shed after a 53-day missing persons search.

Police Probe Under Scrutiny

The case was referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct since Victoria died during an ongoing police investigation. How the baby died remains unknown, but reports suggest she passed away “some time” before her body was found on 1 March.

Defendants Remain in Custody

At Friday’s hearing, neither Marten nor Gordon applied for bail. Both, currently homeless, will stay behind bars until their trial next year.
