Moron Motorist Ryan Vincent Banned After Shocking Southampton Smash
A reckless driver who caused a major crash that shut down a key Southampton road for hours has been slapped with a ban. Ryan Vincent, 33, from Holbury, was found guilty of careless driving and uninsured motoring at Aldershot Magistrates Court – in his absence.
Disaster on the A35
The court heard Vincent was behind the wheel of a blue BMW on the A35, heading out of Southampton at 1.15pm on December 27. Attempting to overtake a Peugeot, Vincent lost control, smashed into the nearside barrier, then collided with the Peugeot and the central reservation.
The crash was so violent the BMW lifted off the ground and crossed into oncoming lanes, smashing a Volkswagen and a Citroen before flipping onto its roof. Miraculously, no one was seriously hurt and Vincent only suffered minor injuries.
Judge Calls It a “Horrifying” Crash
Dash cam footage shown in court left the magistrate describing the smash as terrifying. Vincent was banned from driving for 14 days and hit with six points on his licence for driving without insurance. He also received a £320 fine, plus £40 court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
Police Warn: One Bad Decision Can Ruin Lives
“This was a serious collision that closed a major route in and out of Southampton for hours, causing huge disruption,” said PC Mike McRoyall from Totton Roads Policing Unit.
“Vincent’s careless attempt to overtake triggered a terrifying chain reaction that could have caused serious injuries. Many innocent drivers were caught up in this nightmare. It was pure luck no one was badly hurt.”
“We hope this dash cam footage sends a strong message that reckless driving is never worth the risk. One bad choice can wreck lives – including your own. We will take action to make sure justice is served.”
The shocking dash cam video has been released today as a stark warning to all motorists: drive with care or face the consequences.
