Driver Jailed for Life After Mowing Down Man Outside Tube Station

Camisan Judes Emanuvel, 36, from Redbridge, was handed a life sentence today at the Old Bailey. He received a minimum of 15 years behind bars after being found guilty of murder for running down 27-year-old Gopinath Kasivisuwanathan.

Deadly Crash Outside Alperton Tube

Just after 1:20am on Tuesday, 16 April, officers rushed to Ealing Road by Alperton Underground Station. They found Gopinath seriously injured, having been struck by Emanuvel’s car. Despite efforts, Gopinath died that evening in hospital.

The post-mortem revealed he died from brain injury and cardiac arrest caused by complications from a leg injury.

Deliberate Act Caught on CCTV

Police investigations uncovered chilling details. Emanuvel had deliberately driven his Audi A3 on the wrong side of the road, accelerating to 26-28 mph towards a group of people. Everyone escaped except Gopinath.

Just minutes before, CCTV showed Emanuvel’s silver Audi parked with two other vehicles nearby. All three then sped off towards the station. One of the other cars contained weapons and face masks.

Detective Slams ‘Cowardly’ Killer

Arrested near the Target Roundabout on the A40 shortly after the attack, Emanuvel was charged with murder three days later.

“No conviction can replace the loss of a loved one but today justice was done,” said Detective Inspector Mark Richards. “Emanuvel chose to weaponise his car, deliberately accelerating at a defenceless victim to cause maximum harm. His actions stemmed from needless male posturing and bravado. He has never shown genuine remorse, only selfish lies and cowardice.”

This tragic case highlights the deadly consequences of reckless aggression on our streets.
