Met Police Shoot Two Dogs After Woman Attacked in East London Park

Armed officers from the Met Police’s SO19 unit were forced to neutralise two dogs after a brutal attack on a woman walking her dog in East London on Sunday afternoon.

Violent Incident on Commercial Road

The drama unfolded at around 5pm on Sunday, 7 May, when police were called to Commercial Road, E14, following reports of a woman being attacked by dogs in a public park.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Officers attended the scene where the aggressive behaviour of two dogs posed a significant threat. A man was arrested on suspicion of having a dog dangerously out of control and assault offences.”

Taser Fired and Dogs Destroyed at the Scene

During the confrontation, officers discharged a Taser and were forced to shoot the two dogs to prevent further harm. Thankfully, no one was hospitalised.

The man involved was arrested and taken into police custody as a crime scene was secured and an investigation launched.

Met Police Defend Tough Decision

A Met spokesperson added: “Destroying the dogs was never an easy decision but was necessary to prevent further injury. The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards will review the incident thoroughly.”

The incident was captured on video by a nearby resident and shared with UKNIP, highlighting the tense scene in Commercial Road on Sunday.
