Cowardly Thug Jailed for Punching Pregnant Woman and Stealing Laptop at Train Station
Seven Years Behind Bars for Shocking Daylight Attack
A ruthless criminal who mugged a pregnant woman, smacked her in the face, and ran off with her laptop has finally been locked up for seven years. Kieran Blunden, 30, from Honeysuckle Walk, Horsham, pleaded guilty to robbery at Lewes Crown Court on 25 September.
Judge handed down a tough sentence: four years in prison plus a three-year extended licence period. Blunden must also pay a £181 victim surcharge.
Blunden’s Brazen Attack Caught on Camera
The shocking incident happened at Littlehaven railway station just after 5pm on Friday 28 June 2019. Blunden approached a pregnant woman sitting on the platform and snatched her laptop. When she tried to wrestle it back, he struck her in the face and fled the scene.
Carrying the stolen laptop under his arm, Blunden jumped over level crossing barriers and scrambled across the tracks—taking a tumble in the process. He then bolted into a nearby residential area, pursued by a witness who shouted for him to stop.
During the chase, Blunden bizarrely insisted, “It’s my laptop.”
Pursuit and Arrest After Police Trace Culprit
CCTV footage from Littlehaven station was circulated to local police, who quickly identified Blunden thanks to previous run-ins. Already in custody for another matter early on 30 June, he was arrested for the robbery.
British Transport Police Praise Strong Sentence
“This was a shocking and brazen incident in broad daylight involving a pregnant woman,” said Detective Constable Imogen Sweeney of British Transport Police. “We will always pursue offenders carrying out crimes of this nature in the strongest possible terms.
“I thank the victim for her bravery throughout the investigation and the public for coming forward. I am also grateful to the courts for imposing a strong sentence.”
