Tragic Hit-and-Run on Old Kent Road Leaves Cyclist Dead

Early Morning Horror on South 1 Streets

At 6:55 am on Friday, 21 November, emergency services were scrambled to Old Kent Road near Dunton Road, SE1. A 34-year-old cyclist was violently struck by a car. Paramedics worked frantically at the scene, but the rider died instantly.

Driver Flees Scene, Arrested and Released on Bail

The culprit, a 68-year-old male driver, initially fled but was tracked down by police. He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. The man has now been released on bail pending further investigation.

Police Plea: Witnesses, Dashcams Needed

Detective Sergeant Rob Groombridge said: “An investigation is underway. We need anyone who saw the collision or has dashcam footage to come forward immediately.”
