Dartford Man Jailed for Sharing Sick Child Abuse Images
James Smith, 34, from Dartford, has been locked up for nearly four years after police caught him taking, making, and sharing indecent images of children. The Paedophile Online Investigation Team uncovered his filthy activities from his former home in Phoenix Place.

Officers swooped on Smith’s home on 18 September 2019 with a search warrant. He was arrested and quizzed about the indecent images and online chats. Smith broke down in tears during questioning. Detectives analysed his phone and other devices, revealing at least six images taken by him and shared on social media.

- Possessed more sick photos, including Category A – the worst kind
- Charged with multiple offences: taking, making, distributing indecent photos and publishing an obscene article
- Pleading guilty on 17 October 2019
Jail Time and Police Praise
On 14 November 2019, Woolwich Crown Court sentenced Smith to three years and eight months behind bars. Detective Constable Jon Baker from Kent Police declared,
“Indecent material like this, whether taken by an individual or downloaded from online chat rooms or websites, results from real children suffering appalling abuse. Thankfully Smith has been imprisoned for his actions. I want to thank my team for bringing him to justice swiftly.”
DC Baker added, “Children are safer because of this sentence. The Paedophile Online Investigation Team will keep acting fast to protect Kent’s young and vulnerable from child sexual exploitation.”
