Man Raped in Manchester City Centre Flat – Police Launch Hunt for Witnesses
Victim Flees Scene, Warns Passersby
Police were called to Princess Street, Manchester City Centre, at around 10pm on Sunday, 13 February 2022, following a report that a man had been raped inside a property. Before officers arrived, the victim escaped the flat and stopped passersby in the street to alert them to the attack.
Suspect Arrested But Released on Bail
A 52-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape and sexual assault. He has since been released on bail as detectives continue their investigation. The victim is currently receiving specialist support following the traumatic ordeal.
Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Out
Detective Constable Mike Reed of GMP’s Manchester division said:
“This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim, and we are treating this case with the utmost seriousness. We are following every lead to ensure the offender faces justice.”
“When the victim left the property, he spoke to members of the public. We urge anyone he spoke with, or anyone who has relevant information or footage, to come forward and assist our enquiry.”
