Woman in Her 50s Found Shot Dead in Merseyside Home
Police were called to a Meadowbrook Road address in Merseyside at around 1.45am after the body of a woman in her 50s was discovered inside.
Emergency services pronounced her dead at the scene. She suffered a chest injury consistent with a gunshot wound.
79-Year-Old Man Arrested on Murder Suspicion
A 79-year-old man, known to the victim, was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody for questioning.
Officers have cordoned off Meadowbrook Road as a major investigation gets underway. Forensics teams are combing the scene while detectives carry out CCTV and house-to-house enquiries.
Police Urge Public to Come Forward
“Although a man has been arrested following the tragic death of this woman in Moreton we are still in the very early stages of our investigation,” said Chief Inspector Derek Riley. “We ask anyone in the area in the early hours of Sunday morning who saw or heard anything — or have dashcam or doorbell camera footage — to contact us urgently. Any piece of information could be vital.”
