Young man shot dead in shocking Pembroke Road gun attack
Police rushed to Pembroke Road at around 8.50pm on Thursday, 9 February after reports of gunfire. They discovered 24-year-old Kai McGinley with a fatal gunshot wound. Paramedics battled to save him, but Kai was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation intensifies as arrests mount
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Wood, leading the murder probe, urged the public to come forward. “We’ve made several arrests but the investigation is far from over,” he said. “Any information, no matter how small, could be crucial to bringing those responsible to justice.”
In a major operation overnight between 9 and 10 March, homicide detectives teamed up with specialist units to serve multiple warrants and arrest five suspects. Among them:
- A 16-year-old girl held on suspicion of assisting an offender
- A 53-year-old man arrested for conspiracy to murder
- Three males detained over murder and attempted murder charges
All remain in custody as inquiries continue.
