Football Fiasco Turns Violent in Eel Brook Common
It started as a simple favour and ended in a brutal attack. At around 7.40pm on 2 October 2020, a man in Eel Brook Common was asked by a group of teenagers to borrow a football. He kindly agreed, but the teens bolted without returning it.
Chased Down and Ambushed
The victim chased after them, demanding his ball back. Suddenly, another gang of older youths, known to the teens, arrived and sparked a nasty confrontation.
One man threw a punch that sent the victim crashing to the ground, hitting his head hard enough to knock him unconscious. The attackers then fled towards Fulham Broadway.
Serious Injuries and a Call for Help
Police rushed to the scene. The victim was hospitalised with two fractured jaw bones and needed surgery. Although he has since been discharged, the injuries were severe.
Detective Constable Zachery Donohoe said: “This was a shocking and unprovoked attack and the victim continues to recover from his horrific injuries. I would urge anybody who recognises the man in these images to contact us immediately.”
