Horrific Beach Attack in Weymouth: Two Teens Targeted in Nighttime Assault
Teen Girls Attacked Near King’s Statue
Between 10pm and 11pm on Saturday 14 August 2021, a chilling incident unfolded on the beach near the public toilets by the King’s Statue in Weymouth. Two 16-year-old girls, who had been approached by two males in the town centre, were followed to the beach. There, one girl was raped while the other narrowly escaped a sexual assault.
Suspects Arrested and Released on Bail
Police swiftly arrested a 14-year-old boy from Gloucester and a 19-year-old man from Norfolk. Both were held on suspicion of rape and sexual assault but have since been released on police bail pending further investigation.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Sergeant Gareth Jones from Weymouth CID said: “Specialist officers are supporting both victims and we are conducting a thorough investigation. I urge anyone who was on the beach that evening or has information to come forward.”
He added: “We recognize the community’s concern and encourage the public to speak to officers if they have any information or worries.”
