An 18-year-old man has been charged with murder following the stabbing death of a 20-year-old in Bournemouth.
Tragic Attack on St Swithun’s Road
Shortly after 10pm on Saturday, 16 November 2019, emergency services were called to St Swithun’s Road where a man had suffered stab wounds to his chest. The victim, identified as Kai Joshua Archer, was rushed to hospital but sadly died soon after.
Major Crime Unit Makes Arrest
Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team quickly launched a probe. Jamie Frank Higgs, 18, from Bournemouth, was arrested and has now been formally charged with murder following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service. He is set to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 20 November.
Victim and Suspect Knew Each Other
Detective Chief Inspector Rich Dixey confirmed the victim and suspect were known to each other. Speaking on the case, he said:
“Family liaison officers have updated Kai’s family with this development and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time. This remains an ongoing investigation and it is important to stress that Dorset Police will not comment further ahead of court proceedings.”
He urged the public to avoid speculation online, warning it could prejudice the case. Meanwhile, a 17-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of affray has been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
