New Arrest Rocks Riverdale After Fatal Shooting

Kai Osibodu Charged with Murder and Attempted Murder

Kai Osibodu, 23, from Riverdale Road, DA8, was arrested yesterday and later charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder. He is set to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 18 March, still in custody.

Four Others Already Facing Charges

Kai’s death and the shocking shooting have already led to four more arrests:

  • Enriko Spahiu, 20, of Elmhurst, Belvedere, and Jalees Selby-Gangera, 18, of Woodfield Close, Erith, were charged on 9 March with murder and attempted murder.
  • Connor Brooks, 20, from Horsa Road, Erith, and Bradlee Reeve, 33, of Chapman Road, Erith, were charged on 11 March with murder and two counts of attempted murder.

Upcoming Court Dates and Ongoing Investigation

A plea hearing is scheduled for 30 May, with the trial set to begin on 3 January 2024 at the Old Bailey.

Police have also arrested three others linked to the case:

  • A 16-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and has been bailed.
  • A 53-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and also bailed.
  • A 17-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder but has since been released with no further action.

Tragic Night of February 9

The investigation began after shots were fired around 8.50pm on Thursday, 9 February on Pembroke Road.

Emergency crews found 24-year-old Kai McGinley with a gunshot wound. Despite their rapid response and best efforts, Kai died at the scene, sending shockwaves through the local community.
