Devon Man Jailed for 20 Years Over Shocking Child Sex Crimes
A 67-year-old Devon man has been slapped with a 20-year prison sentence after being found guilty of multiple child sexual offences, including five counts of rape.
Kevin Benham’s Horrific Abuse Exposed
Kevin Benham, from Cornborough Road, Westward Ho!, was convicted in a trial last January of raping two child victims and committing three further sexual assaults against them. Following the guilty verdicts, he was immediately remanded in custody and sentenced at Exeter Crown Court on March 18.
Prosecutors described the prolonged abuse as “deeply disturbing,” with lasting harm inflicted on the victims. The court heard harrowing details that drew a strong rebuke from the judge and police.
Judge Condemns ‘Serious and Grave’ Crimes
Sentencing Benham, the judge highlighted the severe emotional and psychological damage caused by his actions. Devon and Cornwall Police praised the victims’ bravery for coming forward.
“This sentence reflects the horrific nature of Benham’s actions. We commend the courage shown by the victims throughout the investigation and trial process. We hope this verdict brings them some measure of justice and closure,” a police spokesperson said.
